In 1997, Lionel De Leon formed Messenger Project and began recording the music with the band (who also contributed songs). Messenger Project became a non-profit in 2000 and dissolved in 2009 when Lionel relocated to New Mexico. All of the songs are available free in wav format from Lionel's YouTube channel. In 2025, Lionel released all of the recordings to every streaming and download platform. Lionel also wrote a rock opera for cinema ("On This Rock") and a musical for stage ("The Empty Noose")
